Let's reset that closet. This is the perfect time to refresh and reset not only your life but your wardrobe too. January is the perfect month to tackle those closets, because it's a great time to reflect on what you wore last year and what you can do to improve and adjust your style. While we do offer closet services, we understand that sometimes you are just longing to clean it out yourself so here's a couple tips to help you with the process.
1) Be realistic, and not idealistic. You may have intended to wear something for the last couple years but you haven't gotten around to doing this yet. It may even have tags on it, but that doesn't mean you should keep it. It's gotta go. 2) Think about the style you would like to have, if you want to step it up, you may let go of having so many hoodies and sweats. 3) Having multiple closets is not always ideal, unless you designate them for specific items such as coats, shoes, or workout apparel. In working with clients with multiple closets in various rooms, it's almost certain they aren't maximizing their wardrobe. It's best to have all of your clothes worn everyday as close as possible. The longer something sits out of your eyesight, it's losing value as it's ages, and it's losing purpose since it's not being worn. 4) Think out of the box. You may have some lovely camel boots that got trashed last year, a good way to repurpose them is to get them dyed a darker color to cover up the flaws and extend the wear. A boxy coat that has a good shape but the sleeves fit horrible? Consider having a tailor remove the sleeves, to turn it into a sleeveless coat, and replace the buttons. Voila! You have a duster. You can thank me later for this one. 5) If all of this is overwhelming to you, hire a professional. The main thing is that you just get it done. While, we would love for you to book with us, its always best to find someone who can best fit your needs and your budget. While you're doing your research, here's some reasons you should book with us -We will handle any alterations or re-purposing that may need to be happen -We are up to do date on what's trending and can help you style your current wardrobe to look updated. -We can assess what may be missing in your wardrobe in order to maximize its full potential. -We have experience and have worked with hundreds of clients over the years. -We love what we do! Welcome to October Tres Chicers! I can't believe October is here already. Didn't the summer just fly by? My goodness. With that being said, I'd like to spend some time talking about dressing in a pinch, easy ways to make a transition to your fall wardrobe, and how to stay current without having to take a lot of time. Read on for more! September was another amazing month for Tres Chic. We had a booth at the Beautiful Wedding Show in Napa Valley and it was truly...beautiful! For those of you that came out, thanks so much for joining us! Not only did I showcase my bridal and engagement styling and accessories, but I also got a chance to style for the runway show and sell some dresses. Bridal styling is becoming a new passion for us here at Tres Chic. We also had another fab month prepping clients for Fall and bringing in new clients from Yelp and Thumbtack. October will be another great (and busy) month! The Jovance Salon pop up event was such a huge success in July that we'll be hosting another one this month! Please mark your calendars for October 15th - 17th.
To read the rest of our monthly newsletter: http://eepurl.com/bBlK11 I've gotten a lot of clients asking me what should be spending their money on for fall. If you're in sunny California like I am, it's difficult to accept that Fall has arrived although it still feels like summer. Nevertheless, the arrival of Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks, and the leaves changing colors is getting me excited. This is by far my favorite season to shop in. You can really tell if someone is stylish in the fall. It's so easy to just layer clothes on and look frumpy. The clothes are made better, the textures and patterns are more exciting, and I don't mind spending a little more on clothes this time of year. Below I've compiled a list of all the things I would like in my closet for fall. In turn, I think I think you should have these items too. Book your appointment today, I can't wait to shop for you! (P.S. Check out the photos below the list, too.) 1. Booties It's like a boot but only shorter! I love the versatility you get with a bootie. You can dress it up with a sheath dress and patterned tights, or solid tights and a business suit. You can pair it with skinny jeans and chunky knit for a more relaxed look. 2. Oversized Hat Whether tall or big, fedora or floppy, this will for sure, turn heads. I like to mix it up with a texture like herringbone or tweed. 3. Cape My favorite of them all. I mean, if you have a cape, you're a true fashionista after my own heart. These may be difficult to find, but I usually have a lot of luck checking out vintage stores for this gem. 4. Robe Coat There's so many versions of this coat, and was seen on the runways everywhere recently. Who wouldn't want to be all cozy? 5. Midi Skirt This very ladylike piece can be paired with tights and booties and always appropriate to meet anyone in..unlike a mini skirt! 6. Long Gloves To be worn with the cape dah-ling! 7. Chunky Knit Everyone needs a comfy, cozy, chunky knit that they can wear at a moment's notice. Whether you're in a cabin and near a fireplace and pair it with leggings, or with jeans, or leather pants, for a night out. This is something you don't want to skimp on. 8. Fur Not the pet fur, but something soft that evokes luxury, I know you're scared but opt for something with a fur collar. That way you can have fun but stay in your comfort zone. 9. Animal Print: Snakeskin or Leopard Print I know you're scared of this one too. If you're not daring like me ( I just got a leopard print sweater) you can always find a belt or pump, or even a bag that has this print. 10. Gray Handbag This can be worn with anything and is an unexpected neutral unlike the usual suspects: black and brown. All photos shown are from Pinterest, and we do not own the rights to them. Here's 3 ways to look taller instantly. Happy elongating!! Good afternoon Fashionistas!! So you've got Pinterest boards, magazines, people you follow on Instagram and Twitter all for style inspiration, which is great! But how many of you actually review it and recreate the outfits on a regular basis? Yeah I can guess the answer to that. I resolved your problem. Although a large portion of my business is built on styling and personal shopping I find that people are sometimes lost after I leave their homes and closets. I have decided to add a service and actually come inside of your closet and create all new outfits you've never dreamed possible. I recently did this for a client this week and it went well. I actually went to her Pinterest Board for inspiration on outfits she loved but couldn't actually buy at the given moment. She loved the outcome and I can't wait to do it again. We included the trailer for your viewing pleasure (First episode coming soon!) and we will have a YouTube channel dedicated to our take on style, closets, and dressing people. Please subscribe and as always thanks for your support. Ciao! I don't have much to write about today but wanted to share this article I read from Instyle Magazine about how to get that Parisian Style we all love. Read and tell me what you think! http://news.instyle.com/2014/01/03/oh-la-la-4-secrets-to-getting-parisian-style-like-the-stars/ Hey there! So I'm home battling a sinus infection/cold so why not blog? Since I can't sleep anyway. This week I styled my client in a sequined paneled pencil skirt from one of my favorite stores in the UK. This is lovely on her because she has a somewhat hourglass shape. I know they say everyone looks good in a pencil skirt but that's not always true because if you're straight up and down uou need something interesting going on at the bottom half of your torso like a flare or something! Almost every woman I shop for tells me they love pencil skirts, I almost want to laugh because not single body looks their best in them of course there are a lot of factors such as the material, the weight of the material, the pattern, the amount of stretch and so forth. So my client looks lovely in this skirt but that doesn't mean you will. Think out of the box next time you reach for a skirt. What are you accenting? What are you hiding? Never settle into one style of a skirt! #staychic Hello ya'll! It's a new year and new beginnings. I keep getting friends or potential clients telling me they need to clean out their closets. The new year brings on this newfound perspective to clean up one's life. It's like how were you living with it looking that during the whole year of 2013. Anywho, I'm always asked for advice on how to tackle this situation. I won't give out my trade secrets otherwise I'd be out of a job, but I can give you some tips.
1) Never clean out your closet alone. Always have a friend or a professional assist with this task you've been dreading. You should always have a friend that doesn't have an ulterior motive, like wanting you to get rid of clothes so they can have them. 2) When cleaning, make 4 piles to go through later: keep, fix, get rid of, and maybes. Once you complete this you can review the piles later, you should have more clarity then. 3)Make some money off the good stuff you have, if it's hard to part with because of the worth try taking it to a consignment store. If you have the money to hire a professional, it's always preferred because they can help you with a vision for your closet as well as get rid of the clothes or consign them for you. This is important because some of my clients hate taking the clothes out of the house themselves, even though it's only to a local Goodwill or charity store. If you hire us to do it we can take care of it and we can even help you to coordinate all of the items in your closet in a way you never knew. That's all I'm sharing for now. Ciao Bella! |
